Why was the Google Workspace exam retired?
Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) is constantly evolving, and with that evolution comes the challenge for the learner to hone their skills. Users are now expected to have a deep understanding of all applications within the Google Workspace product set and perform advanced functions within those applications. Unfortunately, the Google Workspace exam does not meet these requirements. For these reasons, the Google Workspace exam was retired effective December 31, 2020.
What does this mean if I am already certified?
The Google Workspace certification has a 2-year expiration date. You will continue to be certified until your credential expires. Recertification will not be offered after the exam’s retirement on December 31, 2020.
I was Google Workspace certified, but my certification expired. What does this mean?
If your certification expired and you did not retake the exam prior to December 31, 2020, you cannot recertify. Your credential and badge will reflect that your certification has lapsed.
Is there a replacement for the Google Workspace certification?
Google is reimagining the Google Workspace credentials in 2021 and will create a new curriculum focused on the enterprise user. There will not be an immediate alternative for K-12 students. Please continue to check our website for the most up-to-date information regarding our new Google Workspace training portfolio. We recommend educators and students continue to use the EDU Teacher Center and Applied Digital Skills, respectively, to develop digital skills with the practical application of Google Workspace apps.
Where can I go to learn more about other Google Workspace training and assessment offerings?
For information about Google Workspace training for our enterprise audience, please visit the Google Cloud training website.
I purchased vouchers for my company. What happens to them?
Any vouchers purchased for the Google Workspace exam must have been redeemed on or before December 15, 2020. No refunds will be issued for unused vouchers.
