API Engineer Professional Exam Retirement

Why are we retiring the Apigee API Engineer exam?

API technologies at Google Cloud are constantly evolving, and so has the traditional scope of the API Engineer role since the exam was first launched. As the role of Apigee on the Google Cloud ecosystem expands and we introduce new API-related products, it is important for us to keep up with those changes and reflect them in our learning portfolio. For this reason, the Apigee API Engineer certification is being retired on February 5, 2021.

What does this mean for those already certified?

Your Apigee API Engineer certification is still recognized and valid until the expiration date. No action is required on your behalf.

What does this mean for those who have expired certifications?

We recognize your efforts and celebrate your achievement; thank you for achieving certification in the past. Our certifications have a limited validity period to keep up with changes in technologies and role responsibilities.

You will soon have new opportunities to showcase your expertise. Over the next few months we will be reimagining the credentials on our platform. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements on this topic.
