Flickr and Facebook are missing from Ambient.
1
I recently upgraded to a Gen 3 Chromecast and under Ambient/Experimental, Facebook was missing. No worries, I really wanted to set up Flickr. I’ve been using Flickr for well over a decade somI have a LOT of albums, but the Google Home app would only show me the newest 198 albums. This meant there we a lot of older travel albums couldn’t be included. As a work around, I decided to make an album just for the Chromecast. I moved ~12,000 pictures to the album, and added the album to the slide show rotation. This made Flickr disappear from Ambient/Experimental as well. I’ve since deleted the album, and restarted the chromecast, but Flickr is still missing.

A) How can I get Flickr back?
B) What is the upper limit on the number of photos I can have in slideshow rotation?

I don't have nearly as many photos, but still Flickr dissapeared from the ambient display. Just today, all of a sudden.

Also upset that the option for Flickr just disappeared today. Have stored many photos there specifically to show them over the chromecast for years now.

same. the fb option i used has also gone. sure, it was experimental - but the irony is that it was the most reliable and best feature for me

If this is a way for Google to force people to pay for more Google Photos storage... I’m taking a different media stick...

Thanks! May I know, when did you notice that option was missing?

Are you aware of this issue, i am seeing messages in your community of other users with this same issue...
I noticed it this morning. I saw google lanscape / nature photo's and not my own personal photo's. So i went into settings on the Home app...

I just double checked, apparently yesterday update was just released that Facebook and Flickr will no longer be available as backdrops for photo frame.
Paul Angel · 10:59 AM
just like that? And they're not coming back?

Apparently so, since this update was just recently released and will be implemented to all other Google Home app that are using Chromecast device. What we would suggest is to send a feature request to our developers and hopefully to bring back this option in the Google Home app.
Paul Angel · 11:02 AM
How can i send such a feature request?

Here is the link that has instructions to submit a feedback: https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6292231?hl=en
I hope that helps!
Paul Angel · 11:03 AM
I will do that. I am dissapointed by this.Feelslike Google wants to force me to use Google Photos and buy extra storage for that... Thanks for your help and have a nice day!

all experimental options were deleted in latest Google Home update.
to give feedback (and urge the Google engineers to bring it back) click on the ... in the top corner of your chromecast settings view

please ask all your contacts and friends to do the same, so hopefully we'll have this feature back soon

well, i've 2 chromecasts and 2 hubs, and 4 accounts

so that's 16 feature requests on the feedback from me done

google is becoming more 'apple' each day. so self-assured and locking itself away from other brands and technologies

remember in the 1990's and it was all "don't be evil" and now in 2021 it is "let's see how we can screw over the users to force them over the 15GB limit to make them pay"

bad times. with a bad company. whatever next? putting a always-on green light to tell thieves about the status of a nest cam with more concern for protection for themselves from lawsuits from criminals than that of their own paying customers? ohhhhhhhhhhh they did that already :-(

we are not getting this feature back any day soon, i guarantee it :-(

What are the options?

It doesn’t have to do anything with what you did within Flickr. It’s just that Google developers have (for now) decided to remove the options in experimental.

A potential way to get it back is to provide feedback within the Google home app, when you select your Chromecast device. An hope they’ll listen to consumers’ needs and wishes, instead of forcing everyone to Google photos (with paid options above 15gb after June 2021...)

Out of pure mizerie, I once tried to link an album in google photo via ambience mode.  google chromecast don't find this album.  does not work either.  I also linked about 1000 flickr photos to googe chromecast which no longer works.  Very frustrating.

On any Android phone or tablet, you can install an app called FlickFolio. It will allow you to create slide shows of your Flickr albums and cast them to your Chromecast in a very flexible way. Works a treat! It's actually better than the way Chromecast did it as it doesn't arbitrarily crop some images.
