I replaced my old Android TV box with the brand new Chromecast with Google TV because I wanted the ability to use it in audio groups together with my 3 Chromecast Audio's. This works at first, but after a random amount of time it will stop playing and just keep buffering the next song forever.
The only way to get it to play again is to skip to the next song.
This happens with both Spotify and Youtube Music.

I have confirmed that I am not the only one with this issue, it is all over reddit and facebook support groups.

Please put out an update to fix this. I purchased only Google products to make sure I would have no compability problems, which is exactly what I have at the moment!

I am experiencing this issue as well.  It happens when I cast from Phone or Google Home with Youtube Music to a speaker group.  It also happens with other apps such as casting with Poweramp or Shuttle.  The only workaround is to not use speaker groups.  Skipping songs does not resolve the issue or work as a workaround.  This is driving me crazy since I replaced my 4K Chromecast with the new one and it is central to me playing music.  This issue has been happening since launch.  If I exclude the Chromecast with Google TV from the audio group then I won't experience this issue.

Same issue, works fine and then suddenly stop mid song or in-between songs, stopping the whole Google Home group. Please fix!

Exact same issue! If I cast just to the new Chromecast it works fine. But to a speaker group and it fails on the second track, buffering for 10 or 20 seconds, then suddenly starts playing half way through the song. 

I've been playing to this speaker group with the previous Chromecast model in this position for 2 years, one swapped it with the new one and this happens!! I'm even using Google WiFi and have over 100Mbps bandwidth between points and to the internet.

I have been in contact with Google multiple times, and nothing happens. For some reason, even after pointing to this thread they think it is an issue related to something in my network.
At this point they should realise what even the users have figured out.

This is one of the key selling points, and the issue still exists.

Same issue, super frustrating. When a new song starts, no sound at all, just buffering on the chromecast. Works fine if I leave the chromecast out of the group or cast to just the chromecast

Same issue, Google TV + 2x Google Audio + Google Mini, and will get Random stops after songs. The app I'm casting from will show that it's buffering/sending the song, and may start streaming after a few minutes, or in most cases when the next song queues in, but not always. Sometimes it takes several songs, or several 'next' song actions to get it to start streaming again. Only sure way to get it to work again is to disconnect and reconnect to the speak group and It will start again, but usually only for a song or two before it stops again. There are times, where it'll play for an hour+ but will always eventually have an issue.

Same problem this is ridiculous. It's ruined my experience and I'm heavily invested in this ecosystem and it's effectively broken. Unacceptable.

I sure do love casting my Spotify playlist to my 'All Speakers' speaker group (which includes the new Chromecast w/ Google TV and 2x Nest Minis), only for it to all fall over a few songs in and be met with the buffering issue... I especially love it happening when I have guests over. 

But what I love the most is when Google doesn't acknowledge the problem.

So months of this and still no fix?  Agreed on how frustrating this is, it's a pretty core functionality that is pretty much in a completely broken state.
