Works as expected, although turns off at random moments, requiring the supplied remote "power" button to be pressed.

Hey Matt, the only time I've seen this happen is when insufficient power was going to the device, say for example powering it using a USB port of some other device instead of using the power adapter and cable. I'd also take a look in your settings and check other power settings to see if there's anything out of whack there. Other than that, those are my best guesses.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using the supplied power supply and cable.

Not certain what you mean by "power settings", but in the menu /settings/system/energy saver: Turn Off Display = 24hrs. This is there only power setting I see.

CEC is off on both TV and CCast w/GTV

Any way to look at logs to get more detail?

BTW: In the time I wrote this update and checked settings, the device turned off twice. I presume it's off, but I'm realizing that I have too press the power button twice for the signal to return, and the white light is lit as well while in this state.

I wonder if the video output is just stopping randomly?

Matt

Similar issue here and am also using the included power supply and cable. This simply has nothing to do with insufficient power going to the unit.

My issue is it shuts down when I switch the TV on via the Google TV remote but am watching regular TV. I assume there's an inactive state on the Google TV side of things, but I'm not viewing that output.

@Matt, what TV model are you using? I ask because, and while not related to the CCwGTV, I experience something similar but with my TV and my Xbox console.

I personally experienced the CCwGTV turning off because I was the dummy who was too lazy to power it using all the connected cables that came with it and simply hitched it to the USB port on my Roku. The device would drop signal, reboot and power on constantly, almost every 10-15 minutes. This probably isn't the case, but I'll ask anyway, are you using an HDMI hub?

Same issue here. I have a Samsung TV and I double checked my TV power setting multiple times. No luck yet. Also out of the blue my volume buttons stop working on the google tv remote. They were working fine before.

Weird thing is after I switch on my TV for about 10 mins I face this issue and then after that its not that frequent. Like initially almost 10 shutdowns a minute and then after 10 mins maybe 2 shutdowns every 5 mins.

I'm having this issue on my Samsung KS7000 TV. Only started since getting the Chromecast with Google TV a few days ago. Previous gen Chromecast didn't do this.
