I have a new Chromecast with Google TV, works great but it frequently has a audio freeze. Usually occurs during a commercial. I use it on a Samsung TV and usually with YouTube TV UI. It happens with other apps also, Prime, Hulu etc.  THe only way to get unstuck is to back the program up then forward it.

Yes... I'm seeking a response for the same issue.  As described by Jerry (my understanding), Chromecast with GoogeTV video freezes (audio continues).  I have only seen this happen while using YouTubeTV.  Nothing unusual in my setup... This is simply replacing a Chromecast Ultra.  I have never seen this behavior on any other Chromecast devices in my home.

Google... Any recommendations?  (Yes, I have the latest software update pushed to my device)

Same issue here, and I know it's an issue with the device(and nothing with my network) because my Roku connected to the same network doesn't have this issue.  What makes it even more frustrating is it does this with YouTubeTV, a google product.  Standard radio silence from google with no fixes or any other posts about it.  Hopefully there is an update and it gets fixed, otherwise this thing is going to get returned.  At first I was really impressed with the new Chromecast, now not so much.  I'm going to go leave some bad product reviews with the hope of getting some attention to this problem

Hello, thanks for taking the time to post your issue.

Does your phone, TV or router have a task killer app, standby, firewall, antivirus, sleep mode, power saver, a parental control, tv HDMI-CEC settings, wifi network extender, or electromagnetic devices (stereo receiver, DECT cordless phone, microwave, baby monitor, refrigerator, LCD monitor, etc) causing interference?  A wifi repeater may cause a micro second delay.

If you have DECT or baby monitor, or other bluetooth devices, make sure their batteries are fresh and check their user manuals about changing channels. Speaking of channels, if you have an Android device, install the Google Play app, Wifi Analyzer and run it. Your wifi router may be on a congested channel. Try channel 1, 6 or 11. Not Auto setting.  Please keep in mind that resetting or making changes to your router settings may have unintended consequences. If you have questions or concerns, please consult your router manufacturer or Internet Service Provider before making any changes.

It's not a network issue, I've tried it on two completely different networks with the same freezing issue.  YouTube TV app on my roku does not have this issue.

Many thanks for the quick reply.  In short, my comments were based upon a simple comparison/observation from my previous setup.

1.  I've previously used my Chromecast Ultra (and basic chromecast devices) without the having this described issue.
2.  I utilize the google wifi system for my home with the device in question set as a data priority (no impact).
3.  All other points does not appear to be factors but I'll continue to review for impact.

To summarize, is this a problem with the new Chromecast versus my environment?

Many thanks,
R

Thanks Benton... Agreed.  Nothing with the network.  YouTubeTV does appear to be a common factor.

I am also having this issue, with the 2020 Chromecast with Google TV (x2).  I have noticed that whenever I'm watching YouTube or YouTube TV, image will hang and the audio will continue for a short period before I get a spinning wheel.  Attempting to open another app while it's in this condition results in a network error, and is only resolved by restarting the chromecast or disabling/re-enabling the wifi.  The display shows wifi as still connected, and I have no issues with the rest of my devices, router or internet.

I guess we're getting ghosted by the product "expert", shocker.  Hey google!  Get act together and admit the problem and push an update, or I don't know, some sort of follow-up, and please don't tell me to check my network settings.
