Setting up the new chromecast with Google TV & my 5ghz wifi network isn't showing up as a connection option. My 2.4ghz one is though. Is this a common issue with the new chromecast?
What can be done about this?

I am having the same problem, the wifi scan will not detect any 5ghz network and if I connect to an AP with band steering the connection will fail.

Same issue here.  Hope this bug gets fixed.  Sitting 5 ft from m router and Google TV is using 2.4 for some reason!

Seems to be common. I can see 1 5ghz network but it is through a brick wall. The access point 2 metres away is connected on 2.4 GHz but not seen on 5GHz.

Ditto here, I set it up manually and couldn't see my 5ghz. Has anyone set it with the Google home app on their phone and have seen their 5ghz?

looks like the issue may be in relation to what channel your 5Ghz band is on.. Mine was originally on 157 but after changing to channel 40, I can now detect and connect to my 5Ghz WIFI band. Supposedly Google is aware of this and are working on a fix. Hope they do soon because channel 40 is a common channel and may be saturated as I am in an apartment complex.
