Hi, since the last chrome update, chrome fails to cast tabs. It will cast the desktop and youtube. 1 Recommended Answer 65 Replies 195 Upvotes

I've restarted both the CPU and the chromecast. The problem remains. it gives an error message: "failed to cast. Please try again."

Hello
Try each of the following before moving on to the next:
  • Refresh your Media Router:
1. Ensure that you're on the latest version of the Chrome Browser
2. Open a new tab in Chrome.
3. Type chrome://flags/#media-router into the address bar.
4. Check and see if the status is "Enabled". If it is, try "Disabling" and refresh your Chrome Browser.
5. Repeat steps 1-4 but this time Enable the option again.  
6. Look in the upper right hand corner for the "More Options" icon 
7. Click on the "Cast" option. 
  • Make sure you power the Chromecast device with the provided power supply into an open electrical outlet, not using a USB input on your TV or other device.
  • Your computer and Chromecast device should be within ~15 feet (4 meters) of each other. Your Chromecast device should be ~15 feet (4 meters) away from your router, or less.
  • If supported Windows OS, Reset your Windows browser default to Chrome.
  • Conduct a Chromecast Factory Data Reset.
  • Reboot your Wi-fi router and/or internet service provider modem or gateway
  • If supported Windows OS, Turn Windows Defender OFF.

Why can't I cast a tab from chrome to my TV since 3 Days ago. It was working just fine until a few days ago when I tried to cast a tab to my chromecast on TV and it keeps saying "failed to cast, please try again". How can I fix this issue, I have called chromecast customer service and they walked me through many types of troubleshooting but they could't figure it out.

Same issue here. Worked fine until just recently, but now I get the same message while attempting to connect it to the TV. I have reopened chrome, rebooted the laptop, unplugged the chromecast, reset the chromecast and gone through all the setup steps, checked the chromecast's ability with a phone (works there, but cannot connect to the show I want via phone), and many other minor connection checks. Any ideas? Hopefully, something stupidly simple I have overlooked?

Same issue here... worked fine 2 days ago. Can cast from phone or chrome window but am unable to cast my desktop. Highly annoying. "Failed to cast. Please try again."
