I bought My chromecast device about a month ago and it was working fine until one day it suddenly started flickering. Now whenever I try to cast anything from any device, the screen starts flickering and device even gets disconnected from HDMI. I am using a third generation Chromecast, can somebody please help me here?

Try each of the following before moving on to the next:
  • Turn your iOS device OFF and back ON
  • Are you using the Google Home app  that replaced the Chromecast app?
  • Are your Apple devices on current Minimum system requirement?
  • Turn on Bluetooth:
    1. On the home screen, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
    2. Make sure the slider is On (toggled to the right and green).
    3. Close out of Settings and return to the Google Home app .
  • Reboot your router
  • Make sure you power the Chromecast device with the provided power supply into an open electrical outlet, not using a USB input on your TV or other device.
  • Check your Apple Wifi settings
  • Your Apple device, Chromecast device and Wi-Fi Router should be within ~15 feet (4 meters) of each other. 
  • Reboot Google Home app on your Apple device > tap on Devices  > tap the Cog Wheel > tap on the three stacked dots in the top right corner > tap Reboot
  • Conduct a factory data reset on your Chromecast device.

I wouldn't believe me either but replacing the chromecast power cable with the original (instead of what I was using) solved this for me today. Good luck!

I’m having exactly the same issue. There are coloured speckles across the entire screen and the large white bars flash across the screen randomly.

The flickering only started after the latest software update, which I’ve only just done as I’ve not used the device for a while.

I’m plugged into my Sony Bravia TV,  powered using the mains plug rather than USB into the TV. I’ve tried the device in other HDMI inputs and the fault remains, and other devices (Humax PVR, Apple TV, and BluRay player) are unaffected. I’ve also unplugged or moved other potential sources of interference (phone, router, surround centre speaker) and the result doesn’t change. The interference is also there when casting from laptop, iPad and iPhone.

Given the device was fine before the software update, and having gone through all the variables, I suspect it update is to blame for this.

Even I am getting the flickering whenever I connect Netflix movies. Does any one have a solution for this Chromecast Ultra model.

Same issue still occurs, even after putting the power plug directly into the wall. Anyone found a solution?
