Chromecast Audio - Stutter at 96Khz on 1.32.124602 2 Recommended Answers 158 Replies 169 Upvotes

Original Issue:
Since the firmware upgrade to 1.32.124602 I'm getting problems playing FLAC files encoded at 96Khz.

Playback will stutter noticeably several times during the track - on both analogue and digital outputs.

The stutter often occurs towards the end of a track - when all the data has been buffered by the CCA - so it's not network related.

Re-sampling down to 48Khz resolves the issue - but I've not had this problem on previous firmware versions.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for stopping by the Chromecast Help Forum.  Can you please confirm the following details?
  1. Which firmware version is/are your Chromecast Audio device(s) on? - see Current firmware versions
  2. Which audio apps are you attempting to cast?

Best,
Grace

Chromecast Audio firmware was recently upgraded to 1.35.137090 but it hasn't resolved the stutter with 24/96 content.

I've given up waiting for this to be fixed and have replaced the Chromecast with another streaming device that is streaming 24/192 content from same apps and on same network with no issues.

Same - even casting at 88khz and 24 bit doesn’t have an issue, just at 96khz.

I’m streaming from Qobuz to a chromecast hard wired into google WiFi, with 100mbs internet. Firmware version 1.35.137090. Same issue with both chromecasts and going into 2 different DACs.

The same problem for me... a lot of problems when playing files with higher vitrages then 44.1kHz.
Hope there comes a solution pretty daar, otherwise my free month at Qobuz is already gone.
What other device is capabel of working together with Qobuz?
