Chromecast won’t cast

Hi,
My chromecast is connected and I can see it in my google home app but none of my compatible apps are displaying the chromecast symbol. I’ve rebooted and reset the device and also restarted my modem and still nothing! It was working fine this morning, any suggestions please?

Yep mine died too, around the same time 3pm. Tried factory reset but it didnt fix the problem.

Same problem in New Zealand, rebooted router & tablet & chromecasty thingys, multiple times. There is no chromecast audio nor is there chromecast TV. Have the picture on TV screen, but can't cast anything from tablet nor computer. 
Interesting that it is a world wide problem, something to do with chromecast updates?

Hopefully chromecast will give an explanation

Same issue for me in Bangalore, India. Chromecast is connected to Home app. But cast button not visible on any apps.

There must be something wrong with the chromecasts today?! So many posts have gone up about the same issue - including myself about similar things happening. Don't know what is going on!

Same problem! 

Nothing appeared to be wrong with the connection of chromecast to device (tv) all looking normal but no casting on all apps on all devices, prior to rebooting everything and post reboot as well.

Rebooted router, iPhone, factory reset Chromecast, set up fresh using Google Home app and on PC. 

Must be an upgrade to firmware at google end which has demolished the whole system. With Android you can roll back updates in Google Play Services but not in iOS. I guess its wrecked until google fix the issue.  

Making me crazy, whats the point in a casting device that won't cast?

Same issue in Norway. Worked just fine 10 hours ago, but not anymore. Tried a factory reset, did not work. Chromecast shows up in home-app, but neither my phone or computer can find it when I try casting.

Same here, cannot cast anything. I resettet the whole thing but nothing happens. I can change the name of the chromecast and stuff but are unable to stream. Are you guys behind a vpn as well? I did not saw an update...strange

Happy to say that I am now able to cast from Chrome/Mac to my Chromecast Audio device.
