Re: Issues with Netflix on Chromecast Build 19084

I got the update to 19084 and I'm having serious issues with Netflix and Youtube among others. Playback stops part way through, then seems to buffer and then gives a message to say it can't continue playback. The chromecast app shows that the chromecast device is not on the network so it seems to be losing connection to the router. This never happened before, and doesn't happen with Netflix / Youtube when I play on my phone or tablet.

I was noticing lower quality video on Netflix (more pixelated and jumpy) than I've seen since I replaced my router, so I'm not sure if it's a new Chromecast bug or another issue of Netflix and Google introducing simultaneous updates that are conflicting. YouTube looks fine for me.

I am having this issue as well.

I am using a oneplus one phone, AT&T 2 wire, and a Samsung tv. The set up worked fine yesterday.

I also cannot stream HBOgo. When I attempt connecting the HBO app all I get is a black screen.

Additionally, every few minutes the CC has to reconnect to my Wi-Fi.I've also seen an error along the lines of "oops, shouldn't be here." I'm not having internet disruptions on any devices.

Gustavo,

HBO GOmust have a current HBO subscription and a television provider that supports HBO GO on Chromecast. Please contact your TV cable or satellite provider for assistance.

James,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

I cannot find any comment of yours referencing the 2 wire modem.

I do have an HBO account. Like I said it was working well just a few days ago. I cannot cast netflix either. I have the same problems casting from my laptop.

I will try hulu and YouTube later today.

However, due to the fact that the chrome cast has to reconnect to my Wi-Fi every few minutes, even when I am not casting anything, and the fact that chrome cast is not working with any service or device, it seems unlikely that the problem is my HBO account. Not also the error "oops, shouldn't be here" which I can try to recreate today.

Thanks

Odd. I can open the hypertext link above.

Here's the text;

If you have att 2wire router > make sure the MAC address of your Chromecast is on the 'allowed' list by navigating to your router settings > LAN > Wireless > Wireless MAC Filtering.

Find your MAC address > Android phone or tablet > tap on upper left corner icon for Devices to appear > OR > select Apps > tap on Chromecast app > tap on a Chromecast device you have named (Living Room) > wait for it to connect > Chromecast Settings - Device Info; name, WiFi settings, time zone, SHARE DATA, IP address, MAC Address and Build number. Above IP address, be sure to check the 2 check boxes!

Oops, I must have overlooked the link.

In any case, whatever problem I was having seems to have resolved itself.

Thanks

Same here, spent 3 hours with netflix on the phone trying to convince them of this. FYI if you start a video on your device within the first 4 seconds of turning on WiFi or opening the app it will start streaming locally. Also, this seems to be related to something outside netflix, maybe google play services or how netflix hooks into it as devices without PLay Services continue to work (Kindle Fire, etc.) while devices with the play services fail.

I have the exact same problem. It was working fine last night. I didn't even know chromecast had updated until i got the same Netfix error tonight "we are having trouble with this title... Try another or come back later.." I checked the setting app showing it's now 19084. I've checked the router and all is well. Indeed the chromecast is now the only device that doesnt work with Netfix. Netflix is the main reason I bought this Chromecast and Netflix is the only reason I pay a monthly subscription to Netflix which I now can't use. Can you roll back this upgrade? From what I've read it turns your Chromecast into a paperweight if you try...(factory reset)..

Hi Everyone,

Many of you are still reporting issues with Netflix along with some other apps; we've created this survey to help understand which issues (ie error message, etc) you are seeing, what your setup is, and if there are other apps where you're seeing this too.

I am going to close this thread as many of you who posted here initially have seen better Netflix performance as a result of Netflix updates while others of you continue to have issues that might be part of a larger set of issues across apps, versus just Netflix. Instead, please go to this thread where we are talking about general connection issues.

Thank you for your patience as we work to figure out what's causing this issue for you.
