Can't see a code during setup

If you don't see a code during setup, try these troubleshooting steps.

Before you start

  1. Make sure your mobile device is connected to the same network as your Chromecast device.
  2. Make sure your Chromecast is powered on.
  3. You should have a strong Wi-Fi connection in the location you're trying to set up your smart display or Chromecast. If not, you may want to move the device to within 10-15 ft. of your Wi-Fi router.
  4. Make sure your Chromecast is listed in the Google Home app under "Devices".
  5. If you're attempting set up on a 5GHz WiFi connection, your mobile device must support 5GHz.
  6. Check if your Wi-Fi network is configured to be hidden or if your Wi-Fi network broadcasts its name (SSID) to be visible to everyone.
Note: If it is broadcasting, it will be listed in your available networks on the device being used to complete setup. If it's not listed, move to the troubleshooting section below for hidden networks.
