Manage your Google Home app notifications

The Google Home app can notify you of recent home updates such as new home members, account changes, product updates and device-specific notifications. You can control whether or not you receive these notifications in the Google Home app.

Your Google Home app notifications are turned off by default. When you set up the app for the first time or add a new device, the app asks if you want to turn notifications on.

When notifications are off, you don't receive alerts about home activity, such as motion alerts or parcel detection.

Change general notifications

Open the Google Home app .
At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
Tap Home settings Notifications .
- If push notifications aren't enabled in your device's settings, a banner appears on the screen.
- To turn on push notifications in your device's settings, tap the link in the banner and follow the steps.
Tap General notifications.
Turn any notifications on or off.
- If you turn on critical alerts, a banner appears if they're not enabled in your device's settings. Tap the link in the banner and follow the steps to turn them on in your device's settings. Learn more about critical alerts.

Change Wi-Fi notifications

Open the Google Home app .
At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.
- To switch accounts, tap the drop-down another account or Add another account.
Tap Home settings Notifications Wi-Fi notifications.
Turn any notifications on or off.

Change email notifications

After setting up your Google device in the Google Home app, you'll receive a welcome email with information that will help you get started.

If you enable email notifications, it'll keep you up to date on the latest news about your device. You'll also be informed of new features, partners, offers and more.

Open the Google Home app .
At the top right, tap your profile picture or initial.
Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google device.
- To switch accounts, tap the drop-down another account or Add another account.
Tap Home settings Notifications Email notifications.
Turn any email notifications on or off.
- You can also opt out of email updates by selecting the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email that you receive.

Manage system-level notifications

For important updates about your device, you may receive a notification even if you've opted out of receiving other types of notifications from the Google Home app.
