How to change the volume of an audio group

When casting to a group, there are 2 ways to change the volume:

  1. Change the group volume. This action will change the volume of all speakers within the group.
  2. Change a single speaker’s volume when it’s part of a group. This action will only change that individual speaker.

To adjust the volume of all speakers in a group

From your mobile device, go to a content app (Google Play Music, Spotify, etc.)

  1. Find the volume functionality within the app. To adjust the volume, move the slider to the left or right. Or,
  2. To increase or decrease the volume, press your phone or tablet’s volume buttons.

Note: These actions will change the volume of all speakers within the group.

From the Google Home app

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your audio group.
  3. Adjust the volume.

To adjust a single speaker’s volume when it’s part of a group

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap your audio group.
  3. Tap Equalizer settings .
  4. You will find a list of all of the speakers within the group and their volume levels.
  5. To adjust the volume for each speaker you’d like to adjust, move the slider to the left or right. To increase the volume, slide to the right, and slide to the left to decrease it.

You can also adjust a speaker's volume from its individual device card. To change the volume, press the volume button. 

Important: When you press your phone or tablet’s volume buttons (on the side of your phone or tablet) while in the Google Home app, it will not adjust the volume.

Note: Speaker group creation is only available on a phone or tablet. This feature is not supported on the Chrome browser. However, you can still cast to a group from Chrome.
