How to edit or delete an audio group

If you want to add or remove speakers from an existing group, or update the name of the group, you can edit the group.

Not using a group anymore? It’s easy to delete a group and remove it from your Device tab in the Google Home app.

How to edit an existing group

  1. Open the Google Home app Chromecast cast icon.
  2. In the upper right corner of the home screen, tap Devices  to see your available Chromecast Audio devices or Chromecast built-in speakers.
  3. Scroll to find the group card for the group you'd like to edit.
  4. In the top right corner of the group card, tap the group device menu  > Edit Group. You will see the name of the group and all of the speakers in the group.
  5. To add or remove a speaker from the group, tap the box next to its name. The speakers that are currently associated with the group will have a blue check mark next to their names. Note: At least two speakers must be selected to maintain a group.
  6. Tap Save.
  7. After the group changes have been successfully saved, you will see a message at the bottom of your device confirming the group changes were saved.
  8. Important: If you are making edits to a group that is currently casting music, group playback will stop and you will no longer hear music on any speaker within the group. You will need to return to the Chromecast-enabled app to start casting again.
  9. If the changes were not successful, you will see an error message at the bottom of the device. This article may help troubleshoot the issue.
