Set up your Chromecast Audio

The Google Home app walks you through the steps to set up your Google Chromecast Audio device.

If you've already set up your Chromecast Audio on a mobile device, you don't need to set it up again on a different mobile device if all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

What you need to get started

• A Chromecast Audio device.
• A compatible mobile device:
  • Android phone or tablet with Android 9.0 or later.
  • iPhone or iPad with iOS 17.0 or later.
• The latest version of the Google Home app .
  • Download the Google Home app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
• Access to an available wall outlet and a secure wireless network.
• A speaker system.
• Connection to Wi-Fi (either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) and an internet connection
  • Tip: You might need to enter your Wi-Fi password during setup

Set up Chromecast Audio

Important:

• Plug your Chromecast Audio into a wall outlet.
• If the device has been used before, factory reset your Chromecast Audio before you continue.

1. Open the Google Home app .
2. At the top right, tap Add Device .
3. At the bottom, tap Add a different way.

4. Enter your device’s brand in the search bar, then select your device’s app.

   • If this is the first time linking a device from the app, tap Link app.
   • Otherwise, tap Check for devices, then select your device.
5. Follow the in-app steps to complete setup.

Once your device is successfully set up, discover what you can do with Chromecast.
