The Google Home app walks you through the steps to set up your Google Chromecast Audio device.
If you've already set up your Chromecast Audio on a mobile device, you don't need to set it up again on a different mobile device if all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.
What you need to get started
- A Chromecast Audio device.
- A compatible mobile device:
- Android phone or tablet with Android 9.0 or later.
- iPhone or iPad with iOS 17.0 or later.
- The latest version of the Google Home app

- Download the Google Home app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
- Access to an available wall outlet and a secure wireless network.
- A speaker system.
- Connection to Wi-Fi (either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) and an internet connection
- Tip: You might need to enter your Wi-Fi password during setup
Set up Chromecast Audio
Important:
- Plug your Chromecast Audio into a wall outlet.
- If the device has been used before, factory reset your Chromecast Audio before you continue.
- Open the Google Home app

- At the top right, tap Add

- At the bottom, tap Add a different way.

Enter your device’s brand in the search bar, then select your device’s app.
- If this is the first time linking a device from the app, tap Link app.
- Otherwise, tap Check for devices, then select your device.
- Follow the in-app steps to complete setup.
Once your device is successfully set up, discover what you can do with Chromecast.
