Troubleshoot 'low power' and 'g.co/cast/power' screens

The warning 'Low power' or the link 'g.co/cast/power' appears on your TV screen when your Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer (4K) doesn't have enough power to function properly. To troubleshoot, follow the steps below:

  1. Check if your Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer is plugged in to the power adaptor that came with it. If it's plugged in to your TV's USB port or a different adaptor, it might not be getting enough power. If a replacement is needed, the recommended adaptor spec is 5 V/1.5 A.
  2. Make sure that the power adaptor is plugged in to a reliable wall socket.
  3. Use the cable that came with the Google streaming device. If you use a different cable, it might not be supported. Using a different cable may also cause the device to get stuck in a reboot loop.
  4. Check if the cable is completely plugged in to both the adaptor and the streaming device.
  5. Reconnect the cable into both the adaptor and the streaming device:
    1. Unplug the cable from the streaming device and the adaptor, then wait for five seconds.
    2. Plug the cable in to the adaptor, then plug it into the streaming device.
    3. Make sure that the power adaptor is plugged in to a reliable wall socket.
  6. Check if no USB Type-C hubs or switches are between the streaming device and power adaptor. They can affect the power capability or power delivery compatibility.
