How can I stop the "You are sharing your screen" notification from interfering with Hanping Popup?

I am trying to use an app called Hanping Popup. This Android app let's you move an icon to any Chinese word on the screen and shows you the pronunciation and definition. The problem is that when I touch the icon it either disappears or gets stuck because the "You are sharing your screen" notification appears. If I hold my finger on the Hanping Popup movable icon for about 3 seconds, until the "You are sharing your screen" notification goes away then I can use the movable icon. However, I have to do this every single time I want to define a word. (There are tons of words I need to look up.)

Is there a way to disable the "You are sharing your screen" notification? Or is there another way to fix this issue?

I installed it on my Pixelbook. It has the same problem. I was not able to prevent the notifications.

You should communicate with the ChromeOS developers to see if a bug is causing the problem, or if there is some other sort of compatibility issue. Android apps running under ChromeOS are treated quite differently from native Android phones/tablets. ChromeOS pits security above everything else.

Hi Nathan,

You need to reach out to the developers of the app for support, really. You can contact them via their details in their Play Store listing.

No, the app uses the screen sharing function in order to read the text on the screen. That way it can even read text in an image.
That is a poor design. You will have to discuss it with the app developer.

It is also poor design to not allow a notification to be disabled. Is there a work around for that?

Hi Jim, developer here. Why is it poor design to use the screen projection API?  Especially considering there is no other way to do it.

The developer emailed me and suggested we could test with another of his apps that is free and uses the same api. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.embermitre.pixolor.app
Mark Carter - I have not seen ANY other app show this problem on Chromebooks. Many Android apps are not written with ChromeOS in mind, so they have problems. The screen projector API is designed for sharing displays through a projector, not for what you are doing. You should contact Google's developer support through chromium-os-discuss

Jim - I was talking about the projection API (not projector api) . I don't have a Chromebook to test on unfortunately. I'd be interested to know if Pixolor (one of the top 20 apps of 2015!) experiences the same issue.

Thank you for trying it out Jim. I'm actually surprised the screen recording feature would work at all because of the way apps run in their own windows - I was kind of expecting such an app to only be able to see it's own window (which wouldn't be much use). I'll try the ChromeOS developers as you suggested.
I am happy to test for you.

Just curious, you weren't able to stop the pop-ups using the Do Not Disturb notification option in the system menu? (I don't have Play Store apps so I wouldn't really know, by the way.)
