Well, that's unusual!

Please provide all of the following information so we can help you further:

What have you already done to try to fix the problem? (such as Reboot, Browser reset. Powerwash, Recovery, tried Guest mode, tried other user profiles?)

Detailed description of what you are experiencing (Please describe exactly what you are seeing. Are you seeing any error messages? What were you doing before this issue came up? What are the steps to reproduce the problem? Any other details you think might be important. Screenshots will help us understand what you are seeing!)

Chrome OS Version (Type chrome://version in your browser window's address bar. Copy and paste the first five lines in the results, they start with Google Chrome, Revision, Platform, Firmware Version, and ARC (if present))

Chromebook Model Number (Look at the label on the bottom if you aren't sure. There are many different Chromebook models with similar names - only the actual model number provides the detail we need)

Managed Device/Account (Type chrome://policy into your address bar, hit enter, and then copy everything you see and paste it in your reply)

Are you in Developer mode? (Are you, or have you, changed into Developer Mode, or have you experimented with Linux? If so explain in detail - it really matters. If you want help, you will have to do a full Recovery before we will help you further)

Have you changed anything on the chrome://flags/ page? (If you did, use the "Reset all to default" button on that page and restart if you want further help.)

Have you changed anything in the Accessibility area of Settings? (Go to chrome://settings/manageAccessibility and disable anything that is currently turned on. See if that solves your problem.)

Have you remapped any key functions, such as changing Search to CapsLock? (If you did, reset them to their native function and reboot.)

Are you using a VPN? (Temporarily disable the VPN and reboot. Does that change anything?)

Are you using multiple profiles? Does the problem happen in Guest mode, or with other profiles?

Just suddenly it disappeared and where was status area remain only keyboard input option, so what i see is exactly the US as in the photo above.
I checked settings and i can not find something that changed or that i can guess can be related to the status bar.

I'm not seeing similar reports from anyone except you and Ryan Jay 9341, so the first thing to do is to see if there is something about your setup that is causing the issue. Follow the steps below, in order, and see if one of them solves your problem (note that these are standard troubleshooting steps so ignore anything that you already answered, but re-do the actions in the order listed):
  • If you are using a managed device or account from a school or business, contact your administrator for help. We cannot troubleshoot or help with problems on managed systems.
  • Have you manually changed any flags on the chrome://flags page? If so, click the "Reset all to default" button, restart, and test again. Flags are really not intended for use by anyone other than the developers themselves, or when recommended by a skilled expert.
  • Are you in Developer Mode? If so, you may have done something there that caused the issue and you will have to do a Recovery or seek help elsewhere. Note, this forum does not support issues that happen in developer mode.
  • Shut down and reboot. Make sure you are doing a proper shut down and reboot. Don't just close the lid, do a complete power off shut down. Many users rarely shut down - this is the cause of frequent performance and other problems.
  • Do a Hardware Reset. Note that this is not the same as the other types of resets listed below! Hardware problems such as touchpad , display, sound, and other issues react differently from the other procedures.
  • Sign out of your profile and test in Guest Mode. If the problem goes away, sign back into your profile and then do a Browser ResetExtensions, themes, and other browser-related issues are taken care of here. A Powerwash will not fix these issues. Manually turning off extensions will also not work - a Browser Reset does more.
  • Next thing to check - are you running the Stable channel, or one of the unstable channels (Beta, Dev, Canary)? If you are not on Stable channel, switch to it and see what happens. Running in a non-stable channel is fun, but sometimes problems show up. You have to be prepared to deal with those problems, so make sure you have backups because you will have to do a Powerwash.
  • If you still have the problem, do a Factory Reset (Powerwash)This is more drastic than a Browser Reset and is only needed of the previous procedures fail to fix the problem. But, if you have profile issues they will come right back unless you did a Browser Reset first.
  • If you still have the problem, do a Recovery. It should only be done after the previous steps fail. This is the only procedure that will reload the Chrome OS system itself, and clean up from developer mode misadventures.

It happens to me when the device is in tablet mode. If I enter text in any Android app that automatically closes the on-screen keyboard, after I hit enter the status area switches to showing only the entry method. Opening the keyboard again by touching any text entry field (doesn't matter if in an Android or Chrome app) and immediately closing it with the icon in the lower right corner without typing anything clears it up.

Happens both on my Pixel Slate and Acer Tab 10. The latter is always in tablet mode so it happens many times per day which is a real problem. I have rebooted, power cycled, etc. I'm not really wanting to power wash. The Slate is only a month old so not much crud should be accumulated. Both devices do have an alternate keyboard enabled (US Extended).

Both devices are running the latest 79 beta channel. It seemed to start sometime before Christmas but has persisted through at least one update. Haven't reported the bug yet because I only recently figured out how to reproduce it.
