Google has introduced dark and light themes to ChromeOS. Open your settings and type dark in the search bar. You can switch to dark mode which will solve your issue.

I want it just as it always was: Bookmark and files and settings pages were light and the shelf was dark.
How do I effectuate this?

Please allow me to make a suggestion: Regarding the new change that has a light / dark choice, carve out the shelf. Keep the shelf black. OR give a special option for the shelf so that when I select the light theme I may keep the shelf dark (black). Sounds easy enough to me.
I would like to have the light theme, but the color resulting from the light theme to the shelf bar is extraordinarily distracting. Also, the color of the bookmark and the files pages using the dark theme is very distracting. So, before the new change I was fine, now I am not fine.
Feedback is done with Alt + Shift + i
But, the team is in the process of changing to a new browser for ChromeOS. Themes will work better if you activate it.

All I want is a black shelf and the rest I want light. Normal, like it was. Get it now? Please make it happen. Why can't I have this? I had it two days ago!! Please read what I wrote and let me know how I can communicate to you what I mean, because it seems to me you do not understand what I am writing.
Maybe you can hand this off to someone else that can help me.

This new change is a screw-up. It has created less options in real practice. I cannot select the option I had two days ago that worked very well for me. Why can't you give that to me?

In the dark theme the color of the bookmark and the files pages and any pull down menu is very dark and difficult to read. I hate that! So, before the new change I was fine, now I am not fine.
The only thing I want dark is the shelf and the pop up menu from the shelf when you click on the time.
Please change it all back. I hate the new light / dark option. Give me a way to return to before this new option. Give me an option to opt out.
If you cannot help me, which kinda looks that way, please get me someone who can help me by changing it back.
