Turn notifications on or off

You can set up Chrome to get notifications, such as meeting reminders, from websites, apps and extensions.

How notifications work

By default, Chrome alerts you whenever a website, app or extension wants to send you notifications. You can change this setting at any time.

If you’re browsing in Incognito mode, you won’t get notifications.

Allow or block notifications from all sites

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
  3. At the bottom, click Advanced.
  4. Under 'Privacy and security', click Site settings.
  5. Click Notifications
  6. Choose to block or allow notifications:
    • Block all: Turn off Ask before sending.
    • Block a site: Next to 'Block', click Add. Enter the site and click Add.
    • Allow a site: Next to 'Allow', click Add. Enter the site and click Add.

Turn off notifications on your Chromebook

Next to the clock, click the notification. It can look like an app or extension icon with a number next to it.

  • Dismiss a notification: Click Remove Remove.
  • Dismiss all notifications: Click Clear all Clear all.
  • Stop future notifications: Click Settings Settings. To the left of the site, app, or extension, uncheck the box.

If you haven't received a notification recently, you'll see No notifications Notifications.
