Play music on your Chromebook

You can play music files and videos on your Chromebook or through the web. 

Play saved music files

  1. Sign in to your Chromebook.
  2. In the corner of your screen, select the Launcher and then Up arrow .
  3. Open Files .
  4. Find your music files.
  5. Double-click a music file. It will open in the media player.

Shuffle or repeat songs

After you open a file in the media player, use the following controls:
  • Open playlist: Select Playlist . All audio files in the same folder make a playlist.
  • Shuffle music: Select Shuffle .
  • Repeat playlist: Select Repeat .
  • Repeat a song: Double-click or double-tap Repeat  to set it to Repeat Song .

Pause, play, or skip music with quick settings

If you play a song from the web or from a music app, like YouTube Music, you can use quick settings to pause, play, or skip tracks.

  1. At the bottom right of your screen, select the time.
  2. From the menu, use the controls to pause, play, or skip tracks.

Tip: To get quick access to controls, pin this feature. When pinned, to open controls, select the Music icon.

Get started with YouTube Music

  1. At the bottom left of your screen, select Launcher and then Up arrow .
  2. Select the YouTube Music app YouTube Music Logo.

Tip: If the "YouTube Music" app doesn’t appear, download it from the Google Play store.
