Get notifications when you talk while muted on ChromeOS

If you try to speak after you’ve muted the microphone, you can get a notification that reminds you that you’re muted.

This feature is only available on Chromebook Plus devices.

Turn on Mute nudge

Important: To make sure this feature works correctly, you need to allow the necessary microphone permissions.

1. When you start a video chat, you can find "Turn on mute nudge?" in the status area.
2. To turn on mute nudge, select Turn on.

Tip: The data for your reminder is processed locally and can’t be accessed by any applications.

Turn Mute nudge off or on

To turn off Mute nudge, on the notification, select Turn off.

To turn Mute nudge back on:

1. At the bottom right, select the time Settings .
2. On the left, select Security and Privacy.
3. Under “Privacy controls,” turn on Mute nudge.
