Set wallpapers & themes

You can pick which desktop wallpaper and browser themes you want to use on your Chromebook. Then you can sync them so that they show up on any Chromebook you use.

Set wallpapers & themes

Choose background wallpaper

  1. Sign in to your Chromebook and connect to the Internet.
  2. In the lower right corner of the screen, click your profile picture.
  3. Click the settings icon .
  4. In the “Appearance” section, click the Set wallpaper button.
  5. Pick one of the images, add your own by clicking Custom, or get a randomly-selected image by checking the box next to Surprise me.

Choose browser theme

  1. Sign in to your Chromebook and connect to the Internet.
  2. In the lower right corner of the screen, click your profile picture.
  3. Click the settings icon .
  4. In the “Appearance” section, click Get themes to go to the Chrome Web Store, where you'll find themes designed for Google Chrome.
  5. Once you find a theme you like, click to add it.

See the same wallpaper & theme on all of your Chromebooks

  1. Make sure that you’re signed in to your Chromebook.
  2. In the lower right corner of your screen, click your profile picture.
  3. Click Settings>Advanced sync settings…
  4. In the dialog that opens, use the drop down menu to choose to Sync everything or Choose what to sync.
  5. Select “Themes & Wallpapers.”

Note: To sync older custom wallpaper pictures, reselect the image as your custom wallpaper from the wallpaper picker. It’ll be automatically synced for you.
