Change language

Your Chromebook uses the language you chose when you first set up your device. If you want to use a different language, you can change it in the Settings menu:

  1. If you haven’t already, sign in to your Chromebook.
  2. Click the status area in the lower-right corner, where your account picture appears.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Click Show advanced settings at the bottom of the page.
  5. In the "Languages" section, click the Language and input settings button.
  6. You can then adjust the following settings:
Display language

Choose the language you want to use for Chromebook menus.

  1. If the language you want to use isn't shown in the list to the left, click Add.
  2. Select the language you want to use.
  3. Click Display Google Chrome in this language.
  4. Click Sign out. The next time you sign in, menus will be in your language.
Spell-checker language

Choose the language you want to use for spell-checking.

  1. If the language you want to use isn't shown in the list to the left, click Add.
  2. Select the language you want to use.
  3. Click the Use this language for spell-checking button (if available).
  4. To remove a language, select it from the list on the left, then click the X.
Webpage language

Choose the language you want to use to read webpages.

  1. If the language you want to use isn't listed, click Add. (Add only the languages you need so you can be sure that the content of the sites you visit is accurate.)
  2. In the list that appears, click the language you want to use, then click OK.
  3. Drag your preferred languages to the top of the list.
  4. To remove a language, select it from the list to the left, then click the X.
  5. Optional:If you'd like Chrome to automatically translate pages, check the box next to "Offer to translate pages in this language."
