Access your development web servers from other devices

To test how your website looks on a phone, you can make your local server available externally. Learn how to set up Linux on your Chromebook.

Add or open a port

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Settings and then Advanced and then Developers.
  3. Select Linux and then Port forwarding.
  4. Choose one of the following:
    • Add a new port: Next to "Ports," select Add. In the box that appears, add a port number, choose a type, or add a label to quickly identify your port.
    • Use an existing port: Turn on your preferred port.

Remove a port

  1. On your Chromebook, at the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Settings and then Advanced and then Developers.
  3. Select Linux and then Port forwarding.
  4. Choose one of the following:
    • Delete a port: Next to the port you want to delete, select More and then Remove port.
    • Delete all ports: Next to "Port number," and then select More and then Remove all ports.
