Add and open Chrome apps
You can add and open apps from the Chrome Web Store.
Add an app
Add an app from the Chrome Web Store- Open the Chrome Web Store.
- Search or browse for the app you want.
- Click Add to Chrome.
For Windows, Linux, and Chromebook users, you can add a website on the internet as an app in Chrome.
- Open Chrome.
- Navigate to the website you want to add as an app.
- At the top right, click More
.
- Click More Tools.
- Add the app:
- Windows users: Click Add to taskbar.
- Linux users: Click Add to desktop.
- Chromebook users: Click Add to shelf.
Open an app
Open an app from your bookmarks barTo use the Apps shortcut, you must be using the bookmarks bar.
- Open Chrome.
- Make sure you have the bookmarks bar turned on.
- In the bookmarks bar, click Apps
. If the Apps shortcut isn’t visible, right click on the bookmarks bar and click Show Apps Shortcut.
- Click the app you want to open.
- Open Chrome.
- In the address bar at the top, type
chrome://apps. - Press Enter.
- Click the app you want to open.
Right-click an app to open it in a regular or pinned tab, full screen, or new window.
An app can be opened in another browser if the URL starts with http://. To open the app, follow these steps:
- Open Chrome.
- Open the app and confirm the URL
- Copy and paste it into the address bar of another browser to open.
The Chrome App Launcher is a window where you can access all of your Chrome apps right from your desktop on Chromebooks. You can click on the launcher icon to view it .
