Install and manage apps

Installing apps from the Chrome Web Store is easy. Once you've installed them, you can keep track of what you've installed and remove any app if you want to.

How to install an app

To add an app, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Find and select the app you want.
  3. Click Add to Chrome, or if it's a paid app, click Buy.

Note: If you're installing an app at work or school, some apps may be blocked. Learn about using a managed Chromebook.

How to install apps from a developer's website

Some apps may be installed from a developer's website.

  1. On the developer's website, click Add to Chrome to install the app.
  2. Review and accept permissions.
  3. Complete installation by opening a New Tab.
Uninstall an app

To remove an app from Google Chrome, follow these steps:

  1. In a new tab, open chrome://apps.
  2. Right-click the app and select Remove from Chrome.
  3. A notice will appear asking if you want to remove the app. Click Remove.

Create shortcuts for apps

If you're on Windows, Mac or Linux, you can create shortcuts to open apps faster. You can put these shortcuts on your desktop or menus.

  1. In a new tab, open chrome://apps.
  2. Right-click the app you want to create a shortcut for.
  3. Select Create shortcut.
  4. Choose where you want to see shortcuts on your computer.
  5. Click Create.

Keep track of your apps

To see a list of all the apps you've installed, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Chrome Web Store.
  2. On the upper right, click Settings .
  3. Select Your Apps.

Note: To easily access your apps no matter what computer you're using, sync your apps to your Google Account.
