Hosted App Browsing Data?

Hey there,

I'm often clearing my browsing data in Chrome and noticed a while ago this category under Clear browsing data -> Advanced called "Hosted app data". I'm fairly familiar with the options on this screen (Browsing history, Download history, Cookies, etc...) but I was never able to learn what this Hosted app data actually is. Beneath this option is more information which states the following: "5 apps (Cloud Print, Gmail, and 3 more)".

Can anyone help me better understand what this Hosted app data is and perhaps where I can further manage it? I like to keep track of all the plugins and such that are on my browser and knowing which "3 more" apps are potentially storing browsing data on my system would be really great.

Thanks and take care :)

Hey Winston,
Thanks for reaching out to Chrome Help Community.

Hosted app data refers to data from the apps you’ve added to Chrome from the Chrome Web Store. Such as Gmail offline, and others.

You can find your Chrome apps at chrome://apps (open this link in a new tab).

Hope this helps,
Greetings :)

Hi Sreelal,

I'm surprised I never came across that screen before! Thanks for clarifying and providing the link. Luckily there was nothing in there that I didn't expect to see.

Take care!

Hi!

I cannot find these apps when going to chrome://apps - I'm on a mac.

When going to the Web store I only find the extensions I have.

Also is it possible to view stored autofill suggestions and site settings? How if so?

Thanks

Hey Haytham Saqr,

Sorry, I didn't clearly get your point. Are you saying your chrome://apps is empty? If you haven't installed any Chrome Apps, the page will be empty. Chrome apps are now deprecated, and you can't install those from Web Store anymore.
Meanwhile, any Progressive Web App (PWA) you install will be listed on the chrome://apps page.

And nope, you cannot view the stored autofill suggestions. These are basically the suggestions that autofill your search term/URL as you type in the Omnibox (Chrome's address & search bar).
Still, you can view your saved addresses in chrome://settings/addresses.

And, Site permissions are referring to all sites you have given access to different permissions, such as permission to show you notifications, to access your location, to access microphone/camera, etc.
You can view and manage this preference in chrome://settings/content. Also, you can change permissions for specific sites. Read more here.

Let me know if this helped :)
Greetings!
