Bluetooth headphones. Pausing a video mutes all audio. 0 Recommended Answers 22 Replies 225 Upvotes

New versions of bluetooth codecs have this thing, a feature I think not so much a bug because the behaviour is consistent across multiple programs and systems. When you press pause on a video or song, it mutes all audio to the bluetooth device. I think this is to try and save battery life. However this seems like the dumbest decision ever. The reason I am posting about this on chrome help is because a few days ago there was an update to chrome that added extra bluetooth functionality to the browser. But now, if I click play on a video then pause it, it mutes all sound going to my headphones. This applies to all website and media players. I know it was the chrome update that caused this because other browsers have not changed in behaviour recently. This behaviour is not exclusive to chrome but it is new to chrome. I would love is someone could tell me how I can disable this annoying crap as it is now impossible to watch/listen to youtube while doing anything else as anytime I need to pause the video to listen to something it mutes all audio.

Try disabling Media Session Service in chrome://flags. I had the same problem, and I think this fixed it.

I'm using Bluetooth headphones on Windows 10, and pausing or reaching the end of a video in Chrome would kill my audio in all other apps. I kept a long video playing on mute in the background to keep my audio in other apps. And pausing/finishing a video in another tab would kill all of my audio again until I switched back to the tab with the playing video.

For me, the only way to do other things on my computer after using Chrome is to open a 10 hour long silence video on youtube, this one to be specific.

This really sucks since it still uses a small amount of RAM and CPU to do basically nothing. Seriously starting to consider Firefox, this is not usable at all with Bluetooth headphones
