what does chrome mean by "managed browsers"? and how do I get rid of it?
I want to use DNS over HTTPS. I have found the setting "Use secure DNS" but it is disabled and has a message below
"this setting is disabled on managed browsers"
I have uninstalled and re-installed but no change.
This
is my home Windows 10 PC and I am using an admin account so I should
not have any restrictions. I think if I can persuade Chrome that it is
not a managed browser then I will be able to change "Use secure DNS"Informational notification.

I can demonstrate with screenshots from 2 of my Windows 10 PCs.
One has the "Managed by your organisation" text under the help menu. The other does not.
I see many post about this problem across the internet but no effective solutions.
What organisation is managing my browser? and how do I stop it?

I had the same problem about a year ago.
I downloaded the source code for chromium (which is open source). The "use secure dns" setting is not in chromium but the code that decides if your a "managed browser" is.
This source code is about 25GB and has lots of code that is particular to each platform so is tricky to work through.
I definitely had no policies for google chrome showing in the group policy editor (gpedit.msc) but still chromium said chrome was "managed by my organisation". I worked out it was reading something from the registry and deciding it found a "chrome policy" but it read so many keys that I couldn't figure out which ones caused the problem.
In the end I searched the registry and deleted every key that had google chrome in its name and that fixed it.

I think there is a misunderstanding between how Microsoft designate policies and how the chromium developers think they should.
