"Couldn't load plugin" error on built-in pdf viewer 0 Recommended Answers 25 Replies 467 Upvotes
I have just reinstalled windows 10, installed chrome immediately after to see if the problem is gone, it's not, first program to install is chrome and it still doesn't work.
After disabling the page file the browser crashes completely upon reaching about 50% memory usage in task manager, so this wouldn't solve the problem. With page file on default, chrome itself never crashes and the memory usage may go near 100%.
I have 100 something saved tabs as usual, when I open the folder with the saved bookmarks on most of the pdfs I get the error "Couldn't load plugin" (some of the open properly). It's just chrome and windows and it still doesn't work.
It doesn't matter how many times I refresh or reopen a particular tab, the pdf still wouldn't show.
Strangely, if I close and relaunch chrome after it has loaded the crashed pages, after reopening it all the pdfs would load properly and almost immediately, as if they were saved somewhere.
It works only when I reopen all closed pages (from History , recently closed "126 tabs" ) immediately after closing the browser, as if they were somewhere in memory.

Main memory size is 8 GB and the page file is set on default, using 120 GB SSD.
How do I get the default pdf viewer to open properly?
I'm reporting the news to google, but I don't get any answer there, so I'm asking here.
