I had the same problem yesterday, and I'll try not to sound like an advertiser. I downloaded malwarebytes off the internet on a different web browser (for security) and I used the free 14 day trial. It got it off my computer in a matter of minutes. Then, I just went to control panel and uninstalled malwarebytes, since I don't plan on downloading any viruses. I also downloaded a free adblocker called AdGuard AdBlocker, it seems very good so far, and better yet, it's free.

Hi guys, I had the exact same issue last night, and my IT support friend helped me to solve this. This stupid hijacking thing goes in deep. So it'll most likely require for you to re-install Chrome and just by deleting from the surface won't work. (It will re-install itself!)
First, consider getting 2 apps:

1. Malwarebytes
2. Revo Uninstaller Pro

I ended up purchasing the subscription for Malewarebytes, but Revo worked even though it was a trial version. But please do get "Pro".

What I've done to get rid of Mazy Search.

1. Sign off and turn off every sync option from Chrome and close it.
2. Run Revo Uninstaller Pro. Go to "extensions" tab and kill Mazy Search.
3. Run Malwarebytes and delete every threats (most likely every Mazy related junks) it finds including the left over files in the registry.
4. Uninstall Chrome
5. Go to the path: C:\Users\YourPCUserName\AppData\Local\Google
and delete the entire "Chrome" folder to make sure everything is gone.
6. Restart PC
7. Re-install Chrome. You'll most likely need to set up add-ons and extensions again but most of mine were backed up and it was fine. If you don't see any new tab popping up and see Mazy re-installing itself again, it should be fixed!

Hopefully this works. Please post if there are any questions.

Most of these steps work but Mazy locks out admin rights when you try to delete Chrome folder -suggestions?

I had to log in under a separate user account and change the owner of the Chrome folder in the local app data then assign permissions for that folder to Everyone then I was able to delete. I then scrubbed registry and found extensions using the key shown in chrome and re-installed chrome (i don't use sync) and it's still there!!! Very annoying.
