Chrome won't open for one user
0
Chrome will not open for specific user, tried fix listed in community (remove default folder, etc.).  MOST of the "fixes" start with "open Chrome"...I cannot open Chrome.  If I use a different browser, I am then directed to download and install Chrome but it never loads even after appearing to install.  As I said, on one user account I can open no problem, the second user account won't open at all.  I've disabled firewall, no help.  Yesterday it worked fine.

Hi Caitlin Cannon,

Try uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome Stable...
Note: Make sure you have another browser on your computer (e.g. FireFox) that works.
try to uninstall (Do not select  "Also delete your browsing data" when asked) ...
and then re-install  Chrome (downloader).

I am having the same exact issue.  I have also uninstalled Norton which has not helped either.  I have two adult and 2 child accounts on my computer.  On one child account it works fine, on the other it flashes but doesn't open.

Exactly the same problem on my son's laptop, Windows 10. On my account Chrome works, on his account it opens and closes immediately (processes are still running and I have to kill them via Task Manager). Avast Antivirus, up to date, doesn't matter if I enable it or disable, no information about  blocking apps in antivirus logs. Tried uninstalling and installing Chrome again - didn't help, deleted my son's Chrome user profile - didn't help.

What's interesting, I've installed Firefox, and it behaves in the same way: closes immediately after starting.
MS Edge works without any problems.
Chrome crash reports folder is empty, Windows event viewer has nothing related to Chrome as far as I can see.
The issue started today, nothing new was installed on the laptop.

Same as above but this is happening on my administrator account. Tried all the things mentioned above as well. Microsoft Edge opens fine.  After the issue started and after trying all the above mentioned work arounds, I also noticed a Windows update.  I installed the update.  Issue still exists.  I run Advast antivirus. When I used the Chrome trouble shooter, it stated there was a compatibility issue, but could not find more details.  I am running Windows 10 x64.
***update***  I have found that I can click on the Chrome icon repeatedly and it will eventually open up, however it is very unstable.  It may stay open for one min or 15 but eventually it just crashes and I am back at my home screen frustrated.

I’m having the same exact problem as the user above. I have deleted and reinstalled the app with no luck. It will open for a split second and disappear, and any further attempts to open chrome result in nothing whatsoever. I was using Chrome last night at midnight but when I opened my laptop this morning it suddenly stopped working.

I have been finding the same problem, wondering if it has to do with the Windows update last night?

My brother sorted this for me when we got another computer and the chrome blink was happening for the same user.  If you are using Microsoft family it has chrome as a not allowed site.  Go into restrictions and at the top of the list of not allowed browsers is chrome.  It’s because Microsoft can’t limit where chrome browses.  So now you decide do you want chrome and less oversight.  Or no chrome and browser over sight.  Once I change the restrictions on the Microsoft family settings chrome works on both devices for all users.
