I have looked up a lot of things in an attempt to fix this with none of them working. I eventually deleted chrome in its entirety and reinstalled it and the issue is still occurring. I can still use chrome but it crashes whenever I use it and I have to refresh the page 10-20 times before it starts working again.

Same! Chrome is starting to be a shitty browser to be honest.

Brave Browser which is based on Chromium does a better job than Google itself. Never had a crash with Brave but with Google Chrome... it's another story

I think I figured out.. I was having these problems after a fresh install of WIN 10 (Like errors from chrome and even blue death when I play games). I also bought bigger ram and ssd. So the ram might have been an issue in my case.. three things

1. Go to bios and set everything to default

2. run Memtest86 (via flashdisk) and make sure you dont get any errors (here is tutorial I used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_xFNojChNA)

3. I also reinstall chrome and instal newest microstft edge (to make sure both browsers work correctly)

I have no longer issues (I hope it will stay like this)
Hope it will work for you as well

This web browser is terrible nowadays. I have the AW SNAP and CAN'T OPEN THIS PAGE errors that come up 80% of the time I load a page, and I've had it for a month and a half now. I tried all the "solutions" on youtube from people who claim that changing the target parameters in a shortcut is a "fix" LMAO. I completely wiped my computer, fully re-installed windows with a fresh start. First app I installed was Chrome and the first time I opened the browser it crashed again. Just give it up people, no reason to wait on google, they aren't going to fix it. Just install Firefox or Brave. It's a shame really. I have a Google Pixel 2 XL and I need a new phone soon, certainly will NOT be buying anything from Google ever again.

This is most likely due to an issue with your ram. To test for faulty ram open the "Windows Memory Diagnostic" and run a test, if your ram is found to be faulty then you will need to replace it.

Thought it was a ram issue so I replaced my 2x8gb kit with an entirely new set of 16gb sticks and im still having issues of tabs crashing not only in chrome but in firefox the only browser that seems to work without crashing is the old version of edge for some reason I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, extensions, etc nothing has worked and it is definitely not a hardware issue.

try incognito mode see if it works.

try disabling your extensions (under more tools >extensions) to see what caused the issue.

My mate is having a similar problem and I believe it to be a RAM issue. If you are using a custom PC, specifically Ryzen based, try checking whether your RAM is on the QVL for your motherboard. If so, try updating the BIOS as this can improve memory compatibility. While RAM in theory is cross-compatible with different Chipsets/platforms, Ryzen can be a bit fussy with different memory kits. If your memory is not on the QVL, see below as I will let you know if switching RAM to something on the QVL fixed the issue.

*Will update in a few days when we try switching out the RAM.

Hey @Ben Sanders let me know how your test goes. I also have a Ryzen based custom built PC, so will look into this myself.

It IS a memory issue.
I dropped my memory clock to the recommended 2933Mhz and everything is fine now
I bet the majority of people having this issue are using ZEN2 RYZEN CPUs. Right?

Hey Bill,

I'm using a Ryzen5 2600 CPU with a Corsair Vengence LPX 3200 GHz RAM. I saw that my memory is not in the compatibility list for my motherboard (Gigabyte b450m ds3h) so I'm switching it out for RAM that has been tested by the manufacturer. Will post back if it seems to fix the issues.

What memory do you have?

Hi Omar.
I also have a similar setup.
Ryzen7 2700X with Corsair 3200 RGB Pro RAM.
The solution for me was to go in the BIOS and manually set the memory speed to 2933Mhz
(that's the recommended for my CPU and motherboard)
AND set the memory voltage to 1.35V (instead of the default 1.2V), that is also recommended by Corsair.
Try it

Hi Bill,

Yeah I've found a similar to solution to what you mention. I found very interesting and relevant information in this forum:
https://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1023495

Seems the base issue is that the default RAM timing settings are meant for an Intel CPU, rather than AMD, and those timing settings are what cause general system instability (like the Chrome tabs that crash, or for people like me that are also experiencing the BSOD).

I've changed the subtiming settings in my BIOS according to 2 other users on this forum that have my exact same memory, so hopefully this works.

Will post if it seems to fix the issues on my side.

I guess changing the memory frequency will likely help reduce the instability, as it is the memory XMP settings that seem to be at fault with this Corsair memory.

SOULTION RESOLVED : Hello everyone, I had the same issue and it is a RAM issue. Reason is, I always leave my pc on "sleep" mode. Sometimes, when I re-active windows, the RAM bugs out. So , nothing seems to work afterwards. All you have to do, is to "RESTART" your pc. It should fix everything. If it doesn't, then you need to remove the "defective" RAM off your pc. The question is.. which RAM card is defect. If you can't figure it out, you need to have a diagnosis application for RAM. OR, take out 1 ram at a time, restart the pc, then see if it works or not. IF IT WORKS, then the RAM card you removed was the defective one. IF IT DOESNT WORK STILL, then put that ram card back in it's slot, and try to remove the other ram card... and so on until you find the defect one.

Last solution, bring your PC to a technician. But honestly, I think the first resolution is the best one. Just restart your PC and good to go. Cheers.

I have to disagree @SV4240. Rebooting definitely doesn't fix it, at least not for me. Also in my case it's not a defective memory module. I have already RAM'ed my two RAM sticks, gotten new ones from Amazon and the issue still occurs. Furthermore if you really had defective RAM you would experience a lot more issue, not just Chrome tabs crashing... i.e. system instability, random crashes, BSOD, etc.

If you are experiencing system crashes, then its probably a good idea to run MEMTEST86 via a live USB drive. But even then, it could also be in an incorrect memory timing setting as I posted above. I ran Memtest86 and it gave me errors. Changed my RAM timing settings according to the forum thread I posted above and then memtest did not give errors. So seems I have fixed my issues... still early days though, might have to tweak those settings further if the issue crops up again.

This usually means there is a Chrome update in the queue.  Go to the 3 dots upper right, then down to Help--->About Chrome  There should be an update.  Do the update, then click the RELAUNCH button.

4 days in and the issue never arose again.
For me and Omar at least, it was the RAM settings.
If you are running a RYZEN Gen2-3 CPU with fast DDR4 RAM, check your settings first.
