My default search engine is Google in my Chrome address bar. When I type my search through, it's fine and shows up as google. Today it started opening (many/most) of the clicked on items in a new tab. Then the original tab that I used for my search redirects to Bing. I have already removed Bing from my search settings. Is this some weird April Fools? My windows defender scan and Malwarebytes showed nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm having the same goddamn problem. I'm ready to drive to Bing corporate headquarters (wherever that may be) and stomp the living shit out of the responsible parties, starting with the CEO and working my way down the corporate heirarchy.  I hate Bing. It's a shitty search engine.  I hope everyone associated with Bing dies of painful ass cancer.  Soon. Bastards.

Same issue on my Mac. I have 2 google chrome profiles...one for work and one for personal - only happens on my personal one so I know it's not the program itself or a virus. I've searched all over for malware and nothing finds anything. this is soooooooooo frustrating!

I'm having the same issue. It happens at random for me. Did scans with malwarebytes and windows defender, nothing pops up. I uninstalled some programs that could be causing it and deleted all the extensions that could be causing it, still nothing. When I search about the issue, most people seem to have a problem with the current tab redirecting to Bing instead of having a new tab pop up and the original turn into Bing.

Try this:

1. In Chrome go to chrome://settings/ and find the "Search engine used in the  address bar option, and remove bing...If that fails
2. G In Chrome go to chrome://settings/ and check if your default search engine is set to Bing/
3.Also check your installed extensions for any extensions that you didn't install.

Hope that helps.

I started having the identical problem on Chrome about the same time as these posters (Early April).  My home page is set to Google, I can't find any unusual extensions.  It is making me concerned about using Chrome and I'm contemplating switching to Firefox.  I hope Google develops a fix for this and updates the browser.

I'm having the same problem, too. None of my antiviruses are detecting anything, either.

Go to your extensions and turn them all off, individually. Then restart Chrome and see if this is still happening. If not, turn your extensions back on, one by one, restarting Chrome between each. When the redirect happens again, you will know which extension is causing it. [It was Professional Video Downloader for me.]

Same problem. Resetting default search engine and deleting all extensions doesn't help. There must be another solution.
