Chrome Crashes When Clicking on ">>" to SEE Book Marks

I have favorites tab across the top. I CAN click on any of the favorites that are shown (see the pink circle), and these WILL open. However, when I click on the ">>" (red circle) to view the rest of my favorites, sometimes the window that appears is grayed out (see blue circle) and I get the message at the top, "Chrome is not responding". It does not matter how long I wait, Chrome never recovers. I do get the pop up, "Do you want to wait, or close the program". Other times it does not gray out until I move the cursor near the blue circle. In either case, I have not clicked on any bookmark. So it does not appear to be a problem with a specific bookmark.
I have also checked that Win11 is up to date, and Chrome. I have also rebooted computer, signed out of Google and Back in. All to no effect. It crashes almost every time I do the above.

Hi there,
The consistent Chrome crashes when accessing the extended bookmarks menu, despite system and browser updates, strongly suggests a corrupted Chrome profile or an issue with how Chrome is handling your bookmark data. The ">>" button attempting to load a large or problematic bookmark list likely triggers the crash. Since you've tried basic troubleshooting, consider creating a new Chrome profile to isolate the issue. If the new profile works, the problem is within your old profile. Exporting and re-importing your bookmarks into the new profile might resolve the corruption. Alternatively, examine if any recent Chrome extensions are interfering, even if they're not directly related to bookmarks.
