Problem only since Chrome 80 update Feb26/27. Error message "paused" or "sync is paused." Upon exit of Chrome 80, info is lost. Accessing email after an exit requires inputting info all again. Not working well with password program Dashlane. All remedies suggested for "sync is paused" no longer applicable in Chrome 80.

This finally worked for me
Go to https://chrome.google.com/sync?hl=en-US and click on "Reset Sync" button.
Once reset, sign-in once again and turn sync on in case it was turned off.
Hope this works for the rest of the folks.

I have chrome up to date ( above version 80 ) in both linux mint and windows 10.

In linux mint, it is working fine....

But in windows, sync gets paused every time I restart windows.

FYI, I have two users added in chrome, and both get paused on restart.

Tried resetting sync, deleting users, and clearing chrome data.

Same Issue - I hope we can get some clarity on this soon!  

Have tried:

Uninstall/Reinstall
Whitelist: accounts.google.com
Messing with the multi-login/account consistency flag thinger
Ensuring that it's not clearing cookies on exit
Temporarily bypassed my antivirus just to test it

I'm sure there's other things I've tried - please can somebody get back to us with a solution, or at the very least some additional troubleshooting ideas?

Additionally, I don't know if this resonates with anybody else, but I didn't start having problems until messing with additional account security (2-factor auth and whatnot)  I had it set up, and then I turned it off and this is when it began.  It's almost like the account still expects the 2-factor auth until you put in the password and then the system says - "oh yeah, we're not doing that anymore.  Let 'im in."

I noticed that on Windows 10, if you log out as a standard user and login with an administrator account the sync works as expected. If you switch to standard account and open chrome with administrator privileges the sync still works fine. If you provide the erstwhile standard user administrator rights and run chrome, the sync doesn't work.

Same issue here and many friends and family as well.  I've tried every online suggestion I can find with no solution yet.  Please help Google.  This is very frustrating!

I am having the same issue. Every time I open chrome my google account is 'paused' and I have to log in if I want to use any G apps (Drive, Gmail etc.). All since I started using Dashlane

Everyone facing it in their chrome browser. I will switch now and will use the ege browser. I have read best reviews about ege browser.
