I am trying to keep gmail logged in every time I open the browser (every time I close the browser, I get signed out and must sign in again). I recently downloaded the latest version of chrome because my old one was out of date, however I find out that my laptop no longer receives updates from chrome (my version of chrome is 65.0.3325.181) because it is an older computer apparently, a mac OS X ver. 10.9.5. I have tried just about everything from clearing cache, browsing history, cookies, restarting the whole laptop. My sync is turned on for all but nothing seems to get synced and this includes other websites such as my outlook email. My google account is signed in but not my gmail upon opening the browser. This did not happen before and is quite annoying because I do not like saving my passwords and that has been the "fix" for it currently. If anyone can help I would be very thankful!

I am also having this issue. I have tried every *this worked for me* solution under the sun and no fix. I don't want to install an old version of Chrome. This was never an issue and suddenly every time I close Chrome syncing stops and I'm signed out. SO frustrating.

Exactly the same here! My Macbook kept saying I had to update Chrome; Chrome kept saying it was up to date; it finally updated a few days ago and now it won't keep me signed into gmail. I have to log in again and again and again...ready to ditch gmail and Google! And maybe Chrome, too. Also can't connect to iCloud from my Macbook anymore. If I can figure out what else to use. I am ill and can't haul my laptop to an Apple store...

Same here.  Have checked other devices etc.  Only happens in gmail in chrome.  Edge stays logged into gmail.

Also when I try to sign back in I have to try at least 3 times because I keep getting unable to sync, unless I click "learn more" Chrome freezes up.  So none of the google help suggestions work.

At least now I know its not anything that I did and that a lot of people are having this issue.  I loved not having to sign into my gmail accounts every single time - it was efficient and saved me time.  Has anyone gotten an answer from google support or do they not even care???

I, too, am having this problem, but only in past few months. Do not want to save passwords, and since I have 3 accounts it is time consuming as occurs several times daily.
Please hear our request!

I have the same problem with having to sign in every time I open Chrome.  I have to log in every time to get sync to "unpause".  The switch Google says to turn off is and always has been off.  I saw another idea somewhere that says to "whitelist" accounts.google.com in cookie settings.  It won't let me do it.  It goes as far as opening the dialog, but it's not active for editing.   This is not usable like it is.  But it is encouraging to see I'm not alone and others are having the same problem.
