Yesterday everything was fine, but today for some reason my google chrome is flashing every x or so minutes,  I read a bit, tried a couple of things didn't work, reinstalled didn't work, saw some posts saying it was from the automatic background tried to see if it changing did something and nope, it happened every like 5 mins or so(estimated not sure maybe less maybe more) doesn't really seem to have a pattern, but it's annoying the only thing doing this is chrome nothing else.

I have two screens, it happens with chrome on both and on only one, happens with multiple tabs open and only one, sometimes its a white flash other times it's black, don't see the refresh symbol moving so I don't think it's that, it's the first time this happens, can anyone help plz?

I have tried on other computers no problem there with my Accounts also happens in anonymous

I just started having this issue after the last update as well. Found a few people on reddit with the same issue, they noticed it had to do with their changing desktop backgrounds affecting chrome. Do you have your desktop background set to change over time? Windows will automatically try to pick an "accent color" to match your desktop pictures, that's most likely what's causing the issue. Easy fix, go to settings -> personalization -> colors, and uncheck the box that says "automatically pick an accent color..." This fix worked for me.

Temp fix - you can turn off the Automatic colour changing of Window Borders and Taskbar under 'Personalisation -> Colour and appearance -> Colour'  This stops the flickering.

Thanks for the post. Mine started flickering the other day. I thought my video was on its way out.  Then I noticed that I could see the apps behind chrome.  My background is set to change every so often.  I will now uncheck the box suggested until  Google fixes the application.  Thanks  everyone.

Edit: That fixed the problem.  Note: you can test if that is the problem by having a small window with chrome open and right click on the desktop and select "Next Desktop Background" and see if chrome flickers.  It flickered every time I went to the Next Desktop Background.  As soon as I turned off "Automatically pick an accent color from my background", it stopped flickering.

I just noticed the same issue and followed James Denison's advice. It worked for me as well. Thank you.

Yep. Same. Been driving me crazy for about a week. I, too thought my monitor was going. Glad I did some research. Now, is Google / Windows going to fix this Bug?

Wow thanks for the help all, I was going crazy trying to figure it out! Took a while to realize it was Chrome and from there I couldn't find anything. My flickering was happening strangely every 10 minutes on the 10 minute mark (4:40, 4:50, 5:00 etc.). Realized this is my desktop background change interval.

Changing the automatic colour changing in Windows fixed it, and you can verify by doing what Alex said and right click on the desktop > next background.

Hello everyone,

What version of Chrome are you all using? Would any of you be willing to file a bug report at crbug.com or give me enough information to file the report?

Kind Regards
Giovanni Panaro

No dia 26/03 o Chrome desde cedo começou a piscar no meu laptop, desinstalei e instalei novamente e ainda continuou piscando, no fim acabei desinstalando o Chrome e instalei o Fire Fox, alguém sabe se voltou ao normal?
