Extension will not remove on a Chrome browser using Windows.

  1. Download the Chrome policy remover. If you see a message saying that the file type can harm your computer, click Keep.
  2. Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
  3. Click Yes at the confirmation prompt and allow the process to complete.
If this does not work, you should turn off your antivirus software first, then re-run it.
Then, could you re-enable your antivirus?
If this process still fails:
Do a malware/spyware scan on the computer. Here are 2 apps you could use: spybot search and destroy or malwarebytes

Thank you Stefan vd for providing the information.

If you complete these steps and Chrome browser still appears to be managed, you should contact a professional computer repair shop. In rare instances, you might need to reinstall Windows due to persistent malware.

I just had this happen to me, I uninstalled chrome, deleted the folder in Program Files (x86), deleted the above registry folders and also deleted the Chrome folder in regedit in the above locations. Re-installed Chrome, did NOT sync extensions, the malware extensions were gone, then re-enabled sync and everything seems to be good now.  Can't believe I fell for this.

i have a solution!
-right click windows bottom right
-click run
-type in regedit
-go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
-go to subfolder software
-go to subfolder policies
-go to google
-go to chrome
-look for extensions, and delete all (this will delete all your extensions so keep/remember the ones you have and just reinstall, small price to delete megaguard)

now restart google and look into extensions.

hope this helps

Extension will not remove on a Chrome browser using Windows.

First, download the Chrome Policy Remover for Windows on your personal computer
To get the automatic tool that will delete all the Chrome Policies from your Google Chrome web browser.

Second, click right on the Chrome Policy Remover bat file for Windows that you just downloaded in your download folder or other location. Select the item "Run as administrator" from the context menu

Double-click on the file
And at last, if you see a message saying that the type of file can harm your computer, click Keep. Click Yes at the confirmation prompt and allow the process to complete to run this Chrome Policy Remover.

If this does not work, you should turn off your antivirus software first, then re-run it.
Then,  re-enable your antivirus.

If this process still fails:
Do a malware/spyware scan on the computer. Here are 2 apps you could use: spybot search and destroy or malwarebytes
