How to Remove "Managed by your organization" 3 Recommended Answers 147 Replies 1094 Upvotes

I think this showed up when my friend used my computer and signed in to his school google account. Since that, there is a line says "Managed By Your Organization" on my chrome browser. I signed out his account, but the message still shows.

It affects me using YouTube TV (tried reinstall and watch before sync my account, works. Synced, not working), taking Quiz on Canvas with the surveillance system and more.

Please help me take it out. Thanks!

Hi Michael, if people are using your computer, you should ensure they use 'guest mode' to prevent this type of issue.
Are you able to sign out within the chrome settings?  https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/9159867

If they signed into Google Chrome, this may be difficult, and you may need to request support from the school admin to remove the account from computer.

Hi, thanks for your response! He signed in to google under my Google Chrome, which my account has signed in to my Chrome Browser. I have no idea what school was it. I think it sticks with my Google account now because wherever I signed in to a new Chrome browser, it has "Managed by your organization" message under the settings menu.

This message disappears when I log out of my account from Google Chrome browser.

Michael, what does it say on this page about your account?

Though this may be an issue for the Chrome experts need to look into, as my knowledge of how Chrome works with various accounts is quite basic.

This is what that page looks like.
And how do I ask a Chrome Expert, if I that's what I need to?
Who is my administrator?
Quick definition: A person who manages Google services or devices for a company, school, or group.
Someone in your company, school, or group
Your current account, Michael******@gmail.com, isn’t managed by an administrator. The account isn’t associated with any company, school, or group. Instead, it’s a free Google Account that you can manage yourself.
If you have another Google Account that you use with a company, school, or other group, that account might have an administrator. Because your administrator is part of your organization, not part of Google, we can’t tell you who exactly that person is. But here are ideas of who to ask.
Your administrator might be:
  • The person who gave you your username, as in name@company.com
  • Someone in your IT department or Help desk (at a company or school)
  • The person who manages your email service or web site (in a small business or club)
I'm an administrator
If you are an administrator of a work, school, or group account (for example, you signed up for a G Suite account), and you forgot your password, see Reset your administrator password.

On my school account, it said this for me. It was very annoying because I wanted to customize my browser, and it wouldn't let me. I just clicked on my profile and selected 'turn sync off' and then it stopped.
