I am getting an Aw, Snap message when I execute Chrome. I can't even access extensions or settings. 1 Recommended Answer 8 Replies 16 Upvotes

I'm getting an Aw, Snap error when I execute Chrome. I think it might be an extension problem from Avira Antivirus, but If I navigate to More Tools or Settings and click, a new window opens with the same error. I tried manually removing all extensions from  C:\Users\NancyL\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions, but that didn't help. I also wanted to uninstall and reinstall, but can't uninstall according to online directions or under the Control Panel because the Chrome Application is not showing up. Also tried uninstalling Avira, but that didn't help. I'm using Windows 10. I was able to access last night. The trouble started today, Dec 19, 2019

Yeah,
I am having the same problem on several computers.
Setup will not even load.
It has probably been comprimised again, like back in march when the reset browser option was disabled.

Have either of you used Avira Antivirus? I think that might be causing the issue, but if you both have the issue and are not using that Antivirus, then I can cross that off.

I found a way to access Chrome where you can use it and access the setting, but have not been able to fix the issue. I also downloaded the beta version to see if that helped but got the Aw Snap error there too.

To access and use Chrome go to: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Programs then click on the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter. Click "Next" After the programs load, select Google Chrome, Next use the "Try recommended settings" then select "Test the program". Chrome will open under a previous computer version. You can then access extensions, setting, and the web. As long as you don't close that Chrome window it will continue to work. If you close it and reopen Chrome you'll get the Aw, Snap--even if you select "Yes, save these setting for this program" in the Troubleshooter.
