Chrome Update gets "Failed to Uncompress Archive" error Windows 10 32 bit

Was advised to update Chrome.  Tried to update and got "Failed to Uncompress Archive msg".
I have 23G free on the disk, so space shouldn't be a problem.
Obtained and attempted to run the standalone package
Tried removing registry entries for Google in HKCU and HKLM and entry in %LOCALAPPDATA%
Ran CCLeaner
Disabled Kaspersky
Tried to uninstall Chrome it may have partially uninstalled
New install gets same msg
