Chrome - Unresponsive white screen

I rebooted my Macbook Pro Feb 22 and Chrome stopped working.  It had been working just fine before.

Since it stopped working, it displays a white screen with no error messages.

It doesn't even try to load webpages.  Just unresponsive.  I signed out of my profile because it seemed like there could be a glitch with the profile.  That didn't help, and now I also can't log back into my chrome account. It's like it has no internet connection - although Firefox and Safari work just fine.

Here's what I've tried:
- I've uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled chrome many times
- I've used Appcleaner to delete Chrome completely
- I've run Malwarebytes
- I've tried to reset default settings under the preferences (this doesn't even complete the action. It just spins and spins until I exit out)
- I've updated from Yosemite to High Sierra

I'm so frustrated because I can't sign into my Chrome account - and I can't access my bookmarks.

I can't think of anything else I can do to troubleshoot this situation.

Turning off that option didn't help unfortunately. Even with a reboot.

Still hoping for some support.

I'm really missing Chrome, and my bookmarks (which I can't even access)

Im also having this issue!, Really annoying me now, as I have to restart my mac every time this happens! I've only had my MacBook Pro a week and this is happening, it isn't happening on any of my other devices!

@Doug Mckee
Exact same thing for me, only it was YouTube that was displaying the green screen on videos. I also unchecked the hardware acceleration, relaunched Chrome, and now I have the blank screen. I'm unable to get to Chrome settings because of this. I tried " --disable-gpu" in Terminal and nothing changed. I also reinstalled Chrome.

Anyone find a solution?? Very frustrating!

I suddenly got  the Chrome WHITE screen - it does nothing. I have uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled 3 times.  Each time, Chrome is a WHITE screen. I miss my tabs.  I really would like to get Chrome back on my PC

Hi everybody,

So I get the disabling hardware acceleration worked for a lot of you... but how do you change It if you can’t see the menu for you to select it???

Hi everyone, I've been having a problem with Google Chrome, which is a white screen. It is not a white screen that has a tab that says untitled, its the whole page. The exit, minimise and fullscreen buttons are still there since I am on Mac. This has happened since I was trying to fix my youtube green screen that pops up in all of the videos I watch. I turned off hardware acceleration, I pressed relaunch and it just pops up as a white blank page. Any ideas to resolve this issue?

*Exact* same problem here. Green screens on all YouTube videos (and I was showing up as a green screen in Google Meet earlier today). Tried to fix this by turning off hardware acceleration, and now have the blank white page for Chrome. Can't even use tab tools because they require Chrome to display - just nothing but a polar bear in a nuclear ash cloud here. Posting from Safari.

exactly the same green YouTube screen and after turning hardware acceleration off the entire chrome window is white. can't use the menu bar because it doesn't show up. Chrome Canary is the same. no way now to change any settings from Chrome itself. Re-installing is the same. Nothing except a grab of the white screen to submit as a bug to Chrome GITHUB. Hate to go to Mac's terminal command line and start deleting bookmarks etc.

And yes, I HAD JUST FINISHED using what used to be Google Hangouts, recently renamed.  So I'm back to using Safari.

Next step is a time machine backup of everything chrome.

I went to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application
On the application, right click and open properties. Go to compatibility tab and tick the "run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows XP (Service pack 3).
Then apply changes, click OK and open chrome using the application icon in the folder you were before.
it worked for me...

Mine has started doing it this weekend - it works ok on some websites but ebay, facebook and some others give me the white screen - other pages work fine - bizarre!!

My Chrome started misbehaving a day ago and keeps on showing white screen. The only thing helps is force quitting Chrome and then restarting the computer. About 6 weeks ago I upgraded my Macbook Pro to Mojave from Yosemite and I am wondering if this is the culprit?
I notice that this thread is dating back to more than a year ago and I am wondering if  this issue has been fixed and what is the solution? Thanks!

Having the same issue here. I'm now using AVG Browser that luckily downloaded all my chrome browser links and settings. I will go into the registry  see what's going on there if anything.
