Taking long to load print preview in Google Chrome

It is taking long time to load the print preview in google chrome. We have directly connected two printers to PC but the issue is only with HP Laserjet M404dn printer. when we take test page from HP printer, it is printing fast but from Chrome, it takes long time when we select the destination as HP, and it keeps loading.
I think, first, the print preview is going to color mode then it reverts to black & white hence it is taking a long.
I tried several methods,
Fully deleted printer driver, temp files and registry
Reinstalled google chrome (deleted the files from AppData, and program files)

But still, we are facing this issue, and lots of time is wasted. Please help me to resolve this issue (Screenshot Attached)

I am having the same issue the last few days, except that it is also happening in MS Edge. Firefox, on the other hand, is printing just fine! Obviously, this is happening to a lot of people. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of short of restarting my modem (NOT doing that on a holiday weekend!) and nothing works. SOOOO frustrating!!!!

Try troubleshooting the printer. Also, I see from your screenshot that you can't click the "Print" button at all. The issue is really that you can't print; not really that there's no preview. You said that the problem only applies to that specific printer on Chrome, and that printer itself works (by doing a test page, that is). So, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the printer itself, but it wouldn't hurt to troubleshoot. Try that, and see what it comes up with.

Having exactly the same issue here.

For now the only solution I found is to print from windows with " Ctrl + Shift + P "
Hope there will be soon a real fix from Google...

Yes, that works, but you cannot see a preview. I often need to resize, etc., and that cannot be done with CTRL+SHIFT+P.  I also timed out the Preview screen and it is the same 17 seconds shown in the "known issue" link below. They REALLY need to fix this ASAP!

Exact same issue here, this is affecting a large organization that I manage.
I currently have my users using firefox as a work around since it doesn't have a 1 minute delay in previewing the print page.

Wild that google wouldn't address this quicker. This has been reported almost 28 days ago.

There's a command line and group policy setting to turn off Print Preview.

Thank you for the CTRL + SHIFT + P suggestion.
It works like a charm.

For awhile I was finding that the prolonged time was due to a Windows Update.  Unfortunately, this last time, uninstalling the update didn't work to solve te problem.
I have the same problem in EDGE, so it may be more of a Windows issue than specifically Chrome.

I was able to turn off the Print Preview using Group Policy:

Temporarily,  We manage by installing the previous version of Chrome 104.0.5112.102 or else append  --disable-print-preview in target. But this is not the permanent solution.

In addition, the users are not satisfied with this as they could make adjustments in settings from the print preview.

A new update for Chrome was pushed out about an hour ago. I logged into a machine and the print preview was still really slow. I updated Chrome and restarted it and the preview was back to 5 seconds. It resolved it for us.

Bob is correct, we had a similar issue and found the latest release version 112.0.5615.87 fixed the problem (We were previously on 112.0.5615.87).
We were also having issues with PDF's opening in chrome which also took for ever to preview if printing. My original solution was to re-associate PDF's with Acrobat but I found after applying update this also fixed the issue.

Try to delete or rename the folder 'User Data' under C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default

It worked for me. Please make sure to export bookmarks and all before attempting this.

For me, the problem was happening in Edge as well, not just limited to Chrome- so either Windows 10 or another program was interfering.

The default printer is PDF.
I uninstalled Acrobat.
The delay resolved.
Reinstalled Acrobat.  No problems! It's continuing to have no holdups when going to Print Preview.
