Web PDF files will not open or download. I get just a blank/black screen. How to fix?
0
When I try to open a web PDF file, I just get a blank/black screen.  "Automatic download" is turned off already, so that is not the problem.  This just started happening today for no apparent reason.  If I go to another browser, the pdf file will open.   If I go to incognito, it will open.  Sometimes if I use Acrobat it will open.  I would prefer to open without having to go to Acrobat since it was faster before when Chrome just opened in its PDF reader.   How do I fix this?  thx

If it works in incognito this can indicate that you have an interfering Chrome add-on.
The Grammarly extension has been a problem for me.

I'm not seeing this issue on Chrome/Mac, but I'm supporting a bunch of folks on Chrome/Windows that can't get Chrome to display PDFs. They've reported that trying to view the same page with a PDF download works fine on Edge, so I suspect that a recent Chrome update may have introduced a bug.

We just discovered that we can download the PDFs fine in Incognito mode, so that suggests that it might be a Chrome extension that's causing the problem. Try toggling your extensions off to see if that helps: https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/answer/2664769?hl=en

I just started having this problem in the past 2-3 days as well. Hope Google introduces a fix ASAP, as there isn't an option to download docs that I need, from some sites.

Same issue -  started yesterday.  Even though page is blank, I was able to save the document by right clicking and selecting "Save As".    Found the saved pdf on my pc and opened it, which showed that there was text in it.   This may be a temporary work around until problem is fixed.

Same issue for me, however the only thing is that my Dell computer did do an update and after the update, I started having this issue.

I see several posts with that solution in the thread, starting about five days ago.  (The community software hides many posts when threads get long, but provides clickable links to expand them.)
