Restoring closed tabs 0 Recommended Answers 88 Replies 838 Upvotes

Today I had a restart and closed three chrome window groups containing multiple tabs each. I know where to click to reopen those, but didn't realize that by not doing so immediately and opening and closing other tabs that those previous session window groups would disappear after moving down off the short menu. Even though they don't move over to history and continue moving down there like single tabs, I'm thinking and hoping that they might not actually be gone (yet), just inaccessible from the surface.

Is there a way to open up chrome and get deep into it - below the surface - in order to pull those window/tab groups back out? If not, I am screwed and completely unhappy.

If chrome would just create an option to reopen ALL tabs closed within the last 24-48 hours (whether they've already been reopened or not), that would permanently solve an issue existing for so many people and stop so many complaints, simply by giving people what they really want and have asked for in terms like this. I don't understand why they won't fully address the "lost tabs" issue once and for all.  :(

Yep! That would've saved me ages and ages of work. I'm screwed after my mom decided to close my browser and the recently closed tabs won't actually open my tabs.

I have the same problem! If Chrome doesn't offer a solution soon, I will find another browser which does ;)

Having the same issue the past couple days. I normally have multiple windows with multiple tabs and when I shut down my computer, the next time I open Chrome all would appear by default.

Now only one Window appears but there is no option to restore the tabs from the other Window. This is a horrible change for my work where I need to have many documents open to go through and I use multiple windows to sort by the types

so did anybody got the answer for that?

The solution appears to be using another browser.

I concur 100% with the general consensus here and will stop using Chrome. I already have Mozilla FireFox and I'm going to use it until Google tells me they've corrected the "restore" flub. PAY ATTENTION GOOGLE!!!!!... my time is valuable and you don't seem to give a crap!

I was able to restore some of my tabs (just the last few and none of my pinned tabs) by holding down cntrl-shift and hitting T several times until no new tabs appeared.

Unfortunately, Edge doesn't seem to do much better...

It's very infuriating and I wish that they would do more as well!
