Google Calendar desktop notifications are not working on macOS Catalina
1
Hi,

I have tried everything to get Google Calendar desktop notifications to work on macOS Catalina, to absolutely no avail.

- Chrome notifications are enabled in the macOS preferences

- https://calendar.google.com:43 is allowed to show notifications according to my Chrome notification settings

- "Desktop notifications" is selected in my Google calendar settings

- I have done all my tests with an open Google Calendar tab

I also tried to reinstall Chrome after deleting the Chrome app including all data and caches. Nothing works anymore. It used to work with exactly these settings before I installed Catalina.

Does anyone get any desktop notifications at all from Chrome on Catalina? Any idea what else I could try?

Same issue here.  We recommend chrome to our users because of our browser extension.  But without browser notifications working in Catalina, we will need to temporarily recommend running our application in Firefox or Safari.

Also experiencing this. Checked Event Settings for Google Calendar, notification settings for Chrome, and Notifications setting in Privacy & Security in Mac OS. I'm able to get Google Mail desktop notifications just fine, but notifications from Google Calendar never come through. Definitely not ideal.

Same issue here. Tried removing, refreshing, and re-allowing Chrome Notifications for Calendar to no avail. Gmail notifications work fine, same with Zendesk, softphone, and other sites. So far, seems specific to Google Calendar.

Mac OS system settings confirmed to allow Chrome notifications

I've now been late to several meetings because of this. Lovely...

Started to consider migrating to Mac calendar instead (already not ideal for me), but then I'm reading alerts that syncing between Google Calendar and Mac calendar is not working either. To quote Diondre Cole "What's up with that?"

Hi all, this might be a bit off topic here as I am experiencing the same issue, however I noticed it with YouTube and notifications for new video posts.  I have confirmed all permissions settings as well, in chrome, and in notification settings under  system preferences.  FireFox works without issues for YT notifications, so this looks to be chrome specific.  Especially since more people experiencing it are popping up now.  There was a Chrome update yesterday, however they weren't fixed after updating.

I'll try the flag setting to see if it makes a difference.  this could be a result of how Catalina changed how apps handle security and permissions for notifications.  This is also the last issue I've had since upgrading i haven't been able to find a solid solution for.  Thankfully since I mainly use Chrome for Chromecast support, it hasn't been a big issue.  However, still waiting for a fix / solution.
